We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Deputy Comptroller - Accounting and Reporting to join a leading Company located in the Chicago, IL surrounding area.

Salary:  $146,878 -$179,516

Assists senior leadership in directing and coordinating the County activities concerned with financial administration, general accounting, financial and statistical reporting. Assists senior leadership in directing the auditing, revision and settlement of all County credit and debit accounts. Assists senior leadership in the development of financial policy and strategic programs and operations. Acts as a liaison in advising senior leadership on desirable fiscal operational adjustments and changes due to tax revisions. Assists senior leadership in the overall management of the bureau/department, delivery of services, and formulation of operational policy

Job Responsibilities:  
  • Oversees the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including the annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR), and provides insights to inform decision-making.
  • Ensures compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, including the management of risk assessments and audits.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains financial systems and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assists in the development and management of the County's budget, including the preparation of budget forecasts and analysis of variances.
  • Works closely with other departments to coordinate financial activities, resolve issues, and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies and policies.
  • Provides guidance, training, and support to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  •  Leads and manages financial projects, including system implementations and process improvements.

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and four (4) years in accounting, finance, administration, or directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Determines organization financial status by establishing and monitoring accounting procedures; completing audits; evaluating forecasts.
  • Ability to provide strategic leadership, insight, support, and direction to support the unit's mission and goals.
  • Ability to verbally discuss financial problems with department representatives, elected officials and administrative
  • Ability to analyze numerical problems and develop accounting systems to control the financial activity of the county accurately.
  • Ability to implement the strategic vision of a department or organization-wide function. 
  • Manages and directs assigned project resources to best meet project objectives.
  • Ability to recommend solutions to financial problems and implement them as necessary.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years in accounting, finance, or administration.
  • Five (5) years of previous management or supervisory experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
