We have an outstanding Contract position for a Senior Harness Technician to join a leading Company located in the Los Angeles, CA surrounding area.
Pay Rate: $36 - $46/hr
**US Citizenship is required.**
**Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Harness Technician to assist in manufacturing and standardization of complex electrical systems and wiring harnesses for all product needs. This individual will play a key role in ensuring our electrical and harness assemblies meets the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability in support of our prototyping and product development activities.
Job Responsibilities:
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings to independently build and troubleshoot complex harness assemblies.
Manufacture prototype and production harnesses—including shielded, twisted pair, coaxial, high-voltage, and multi-branch—following work instructions and prescribed standards.
Install, route, and rework harnesses within mechanical assemblies, enclosures, and vehicles.
Perform continuity, resistance, insulation, and functional testing using multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers, and network analyzers or other specialized in process equipment.
Set up and operate crimping tools (manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic) to perform precision crimps on a variety of contacts and terminals per IPC/WHMA-A-620 and MIL-spec standards.
Inspect and verify crimp quality using pull testing, crimp micrometers, and visual inspection under magnification.
Support First Article Inspection (FAI), development builds, rapid prototyping, and final acceptance of electrical harnesses.
Ensure workmanship quality, maintain build traceability, and uphold zero-defect standards through proper documentation and process control.
Collaborate with production, test, and quality teams to resolve build issues and implement corrective actions.
Mentor and train Junior Harnessing Technicians.
Maintain accurate records of builds, rework, and inspections in accordance with AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
Basic Hiring Criteria
5+ years of hands-on experience building aerospace/defense or high-reliability electrical harness assemblies.
Expert knowledge of hand tools and equipment used for crimping, stripping, cutting, and soldering.
Strong soldering skills. Ability to hand-solder lap and lash splices, and fine pitch soldering cups.
Strong understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, J-STD-001, and NASA workmanship standards.
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing plans.
Proficient with test equipment such as multimeters, hipot testers, and oscilloscopes.
Proven track record of building complex harnesses.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative, and high-standard environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Minimum 8+ years' experience as a technician in defense, aerospace, or equivalent high‐reliability field.
Certified to J-STD-100, IPC-620, and IPC-610 or NASA STD8739.4.
Strong knowledge and experience in manufacturing, troubleshooting, testing, rework and repair of harnessing.
Experience with connectors (e.g., D38999, Glenair, Micro-D, Nano-D, MIL-spec coax).
Familiarity with spacecraft, UAV, missile, or ground combat system harnessing practices.
Experience with cleanroom protocols and ESD-safe practices.
Experience with PLM and MES systems such as Oracle, Epicor, Ion, JIRA etc.
Ability to support light CAD work for layout and harness routing (SolidWorks Electrical, E3, or similar).
Previous experience in new product introduction (NPI) or rapid prototyping environments.
