We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Staff Engineer- IMA Systems Engineering to join a leading Company located in the Grand Rapids, MI surrounding area.

**US Citizenship is required.**

This position will be responsible for leading, guiding and contributing to all technical aspects of the related project(s) across Common Core Systems (CCS) based on technologies.  This role provides technical leadership and assistance to project teams to ensure they deliver on cost, quality, schedule, and technical milestones. 

Job Responsibilities:  
  • Ability to direct and influence the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for products/technologies.
  • May contribute to the development and verification plans in accordance with company processes.
  • Develop architecture and trade studies as needed to comply with customer requirements.
  • Crosstrain and mentor other Systems Engineers in the systems engineering discipline.
  • Drive and support engineering reuse within the product line.
  • Solves engineering problems directly with the customer.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the teams running projects within the product line. This includes supporting the engineering leads and project managers with project planning, conducting reviews, metrics development/tracking, forecasting, development processes, and risk and opportunity management.  
  • Supports the engineering leads and project managers with the timely delivery of systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.
  • Support the initiation of new projects to ensure they are well planned in accordance with the product roadmap, the overall product line strategy, and engineering process requirements.
  • Lead/manage interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams. 
  • Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.
  • Uses best judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks/problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering as needed.
  • Takes a new perspective on existing solutions – a fresh set of eyes
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
  • Projects confidence and integrity to customers, partners, internal engineering teams, and certification authorities.

Basic Hiring Criteria
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field of study. Master of Science in a similar field preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the 777x and 787 airplanes and related systems.
  • Prior experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A Environment.
  • DO-297, ARP 4754A, DO-178, DO-254 and/or DO-330 process assurance experience.
  • Experience with engineering processes, including requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements validation, requirements verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety. 
  • Able to communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in development, integration, validation, and verification of systems.
  • Broad experience that allows the candidate to understand and translate between different engineering disciplines.
  • Strong systems engineering thought process on design, requirements, and verification.
  • Strong knowledge of Avionics maintainability and testability.
  • Ability and desire to mentor other engineers in key technical areas.
