We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for an Applicant Services Representative to join a leading Company located in the Rockville, MD surrounding area.
Pay Rate: $25 - $28
The Applicant Services Representative will ensure that all applicants receive extraordinary service when requesting a status, processing an application, or submitting documents or questions; additionally they will provide empathetic, efficient, accurate, and timely service whether in processing or over the phone.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review, validate, and confirm required documents to process Applications
- Review divorce decrees before 1985
- Process status requests timely and accurately
- Process applications timely and accurately
- Process Verification requests timely and accurately
- Calculate benefit
- Create appropriate system letters and/or template letters with approval
- Submit the NEBF application file for approval or rejection
- Interact with a participant via phone or in correspondence to clarify application information
- Research Social Security transcripts.
- Prepare and send Social Security Authorizations to the Social Security Administration
- Process future eligible pensions
- Recalculate benefit when necessary due to additional service credits earned either before or after the pension effective date
- Research work history when needed and send to Employer Services for social security number merge
- Calculate interest for retroactive payments
- Back up for contact center when needed
- Regularly communicate with the NEBF Applicant Services Supervisor
- Process an average of 30 applications and/or 40 status requests and/or 35 items from the Review queue and/or 45 items from the Spouse queue per day
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Hiring Criteria:
- 2+ years of progressive benefit fund experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- Previous benefit fund experience is strongly preferred, but not required
- Reviewed 06/2025
- Taft-Hartley Trust Fund experience preferred
- Listens well with the ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communications
- Presents a professional image in the office
- Demonstrates ability to manage complex issues while maintaining a flexible, positive, and cooperative demeanor
- Responds promptly to operations leaders and stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making
- Troubleshoots assigned issues, gathers evidence and investigates all relevant information with participants, vendors, and internal departments to resolve the problem in a cooperative and collaborative manner
