We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Norton, MA surrounding area.
The Civil/Structural Engineer and Senior Civil/Structural Engineer roles are part of a newly developed discipline within our growing in-house engineering department. These hires will play a key role in shaping the company's structural and civil engineering standards to support utility-scale solar and substation infrastructure projects. Both positions offer long-term career growth and direct exposure to large-scale renewable energy design and construction.
Civil/Structural Engineer: Hands-on design contributor focused on producing and reviewing drawings, calculations, and reports for foundations, grading, drainage, and supports.
Senior Civil/Structural Engineer: More experienced professional serving as a technical lead and mentor, overseeing design quality, coordinating across disciplines, and contributing to standardization of processes and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and review civil and structural drawings for renewable and substation projects.
- Conduct load analysis (dead, live, wind, seismic) and design beams, columns, slabs, and foundations.
- Prepare grading, drainage, and erosion control reports and stormwater management documentation.
- Evaluate and approve vendor drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, estimating, and construction teams to ensure constructability and cost efficiency.
- Support value engineering and preconstruction efforts, such as proposal preparation and quantity takeoffs.
- Conduct field visits to verify installation accuracy and provide on-site technical support.
- Assist in developing and maintaining company engineering standards, templates, and processes.
- For senior-level hires: provide mentorship, design reviews, and leadership input into developing the new civil/structural discipline.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- Minimum 2-4 years of civil/structural design experience (utility, renewable, or heavy industrial).
- Working knowledge of NEC, IEC, UL, and local permitting codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, MicroStation, Revit, Procore, or PVSyst preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to coordinate across engineering and field operations.
- Willingness to travel periodically for field coordination.
Desired / Senior-Level Qualifications:
- 5-8+ years of experience, including project leadership or design oversight.
- Proven experience with foundations, transformer pads, supports, and substation or utility-scale solar infrastructure.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility preferred.
- Demonstrated success in integrating design with construction and field execution.
- OSHA safety training or equivalent certifications.
