We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Project Manager. This position is 100% remote.

Salary: $100k - $120k

Serves as the primary point of contact for customers for orders once they are handed off from sales. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining shop production targets, maximizing profitability for each order, and being consistent with our corporate mission, values and department objectives.

Job Responsibilities:  
  • Responsible for about 40 projects totaling about 20,000 tons.
  • Attend morning production meetings.
  • Be a mentor and resource for PM team members' questions. 
  • Help others to come up with alternative solutions to issues through experience.
  • Understand production capacities of the plant(s) and select appropriate fabrication and delivery slots for sizeable projects to not overload/underutilize the shop.
  • Visualize the erection sequence, connection fit, and site constraints from customer interactions.
  • Identify potential job-specific limitations of the shop or understand the extra time it may take to produce the project.
  • Initiate and lead kick-off meetings when needed and ensure that follow-ups are completed.
  • Read, effectively communicate, and answer questions about joist and deck erection plans/calculations.
  • Determine if there will be a need for subcontracting (galvanization, bending, rolling). 
  • Establish and communicate a timeline needed for extra prep.
  • Identify and select the optimum subcontractor by price, location, and overall expense.
  • Coordinate every aspect of the project: Ensure that the project meets all specifications, shop drawings, material, fabrication schedule, and deliveries.
  • Understand and execute progress billing needs for both the company and our customers. 
  • Work closely with sales and accounting to establish and manage a schedule of values, in accordance with AIA guidelines.
  • Provide timely direction for field issues to avoid or minimize back charges.
  • Negotiate change orders and back charges with our customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • An extensive background in steel fabrication is required, a minimum of 5 years.
  • An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school or 5 years in the structural industry is required.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to provide information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Must be able to effectively manage time.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Must be able to schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  • Willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
  • Ability to travel for necessary training and jobsite visits.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and other software.
  • Ability to travel to jobsites as required.
