We have an outstanding Contract position for a Planner/Scheduler to join a leading Company located in the Van Nuys, CA surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $26 - $30

Plans and prepares production materials, travelers, and work orders. Evaluates shortages and notifies of any potential problem if required.

Responsibilities:
  • On a daily basis, reviews material availability in the ERP/MRP system to plan actions in support of production releases to the MPS schedule
  • Responsible for reviewing requirements for production's master schedule (12 weeks out) and reviewing the current forecast for corresponding items
  • Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production orders and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials and production orders to meet production requirements
  • Reviews shortages in existing backlogs and advises management when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy
  • Confirms and releases work orders, including verification of material availability and reissuance of materials based on unexpected yield variances
  • Prepares and issues production paperwork, revises and reschedules shop orders in LN when necessary
  • Works with the Production supervisor on a daily basis to monitor status and scheduling to obtain on-time delivery of products
  • Coordinate with production on any changes to schedules
  • Directs or instructs the expeditor of products that are required to be sent to a finished goods shipment or required follow-up for any products
  • Reviews procured items and releases expedited requests to purchasing if material is required urgently
  • Coordinates subcontracted orders and creates all required paperwork
  • Requests physical counts of raw material and work-in-process (WIP) inventory, identifying and solving inventory variances
  • Works with all teams involved in ensuring timely assessment of failed products in incoming Inspection or Production inspection, and addresses any planning-related issues
  • Works with department personnel, including Material Handlers, production, and buyers, resolving material availability issues as they arise
  • Works with the warehouse in order to expedite the release of items into the production floor
  • Reviews and takes any actions requested from the MRB findings and squawks
  • Works with the Development Planning group in order to support any required actions related to new Engineering Drawings or any Design Changes
  • Inputs data into various systems and creates/prepares reports for production planning or customer meetings
  • Entry-level job with little or no prior relevant work experience
  • Acquires basic skills to perform routine tasks
  • Work is prescribed and completed with little autonomy
  • Works with either close supervision or under clearly defined procedures

Basic Hiring Criteria
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience in production planning are required
  • Windows Operating system and Windows Office proficiency are required
  • Knowledge in Drawing Applications and an understanding of drawings is required
  • Solid understanding of Production Planning and Production Scheduling best practices and principles is required

Desired Qualifications
  • College degree is preferred (Preferably a degree in Supply Chain management or a related field) or comparable experience
