We are looking for a full-time Electronic Security CAD Drafter for the Raleigh, NC area. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and installation teams to produce accurate construction documents that comply with local, state, and national building codes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in drafting complex low-voltage system layouts.
Position Overview
The CAD Drafter is responsible for creating, reviewing, and modifying technical drawings and blueprints that incorporate electronic security and network system components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise CAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, risers, schematics, and wiring diagrams for:
- Access control systems
- Video surveillance/CCTV
- Intrusion detection systems
- Network cabling infrastructure
- Healthcare and communication technology systems
- Interpret architectural and engineering drawings to properly integrate security and technology elements.
- Add device locations, cabling routes, equipment symbols, and legends to plan sets according to project specifications.
- Ensure all drawings meet applicable city and state building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure drawings reflect accurate system design, installation pathways, and equipment placement.
- Update drawings based on field changes, redlines, and installation feedback.
- Maintain organized project files, drawing logs, and revision histories.
- Assist in producing permit packages, submittals, as-built documentation, and closeout drawings.
- Support project teams with technical CAD expertise during planning and installation phases.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- 1–3+ years of CAD drafting experience, ideally in low-voltage, electrical, security systems, telecommunications, or construction industries.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (Revit or Bluebeam a plus).
- Familiarity with low-voltage systems, security equipment, and structured cabling layouts preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and engineering plans.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean, accurate drawing sets.
- Knowledge of building codes, permitting requirements, and compliance standards related to electronic security systems (preferred).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
