We have an outstanding Contract position for a Precision Cleaning Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Laurel, MD surrounding area.
Pay Rate: $65 - $70
We are seeking a Precision Cleaning Engineer to help ensure that spaceflight hardware meets contamination requirements, enabling mission success. As a member of our Spaceflight Hardware Production and Test Group, you will join a community of professionals focused on the planning, procurement, inspection, cleaning, testing, and stocking of hardware for spaceflight endeavors.
Responsibilities:
- As a Precision Cleaning Engineer, you will contribute to a range of contamination engineering and control activities, including:
- Contributing to and reviewing contamination control plans.
- Outlining cleanliness standards and verifying results.
- Physical hands-on cleaning, aqueous degreasing, and solvent flushing.
- Formulating contamination budgets and mitigation strategies.
- Conducting outgassing and material analysis.
- Verifying cleanliness through particulate counts, non-volatile residue, and black light (UV) inspection.
- Providing support and guidance to precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes to meet mission goals.
- Providing guidance and expertise in support of spacecraft integration and test environments and spacecraft launch activities.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including working in a cleanroom environment.
- Have experience performing precision cleaning, inspection, and verification processes on spaceflight hardware.
- Have experience in precision cleaning hardware with solvents and surfactants on spacecraft materials, including metals, composites, and polymers with varying surface finishes.
- Have the ability to work occasional overtime or extended shift work, as well as occasional travel.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Engineering, or a related science/engineering field.
- Have experience with vacuum testing procedures such as MSFC-SPEC-1238, ASTM 595, and ASTM 1559.
- Have experience in particulate and molecular sampling for analysis in accordance with industry standards such as IEST-STDCC1246E.
- Are familiar with ISO-14644 cleanroom certification standards.
- Have at least 5 years of experience in Contamination Engineering, including experience with space flight hardware.
- Possess expertise in performing contamination transport analysis and modelling.
