We have an outstanding career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Jacksonville, IL surrounding area.

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000

We're looking for a detail-oriented Electrical Engineer / Test Specialist who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys solving real-world hardware problems. In this role, you'll work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to test, troubleshoot, and validate electronic assemblies—from early prototypes through production—ensuring performance, quality, and reliability. If you love being in the lab, working across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing, and seeing your work move quickly from concept to reality, this role offers both technical depth and visible impact.

Responsibilities
  • Test, troubleshoot, and validate electronic assemblies and PCBs to ensure functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Work hands-on with microcontroller-based systems (8-bit to 32-bit) and peripherals such as RTC, timers, ADC/DAC, PWM, interrupts, DMA, UART, and capture/compare features.
  • Program and configure C-based embedded systems, working in both bare-metal and RTOS environments.
  • Interface with and support communication protocols, including USB, TCP/IP, CAN, and Modbus RTU.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) efforts, including PCB layout reviews (2–6 layers), component placement, and high-current/high-voltage design considerations.
  • Assemble, test, debug, and refine prototypes and pre-production unitsensuring alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Develop and build test fixtures, jigs, and simulators, including wiring schematics and panel layouts, using safe and effective lab practices.
  • Perform fine-pitch SMT soldering and rework, down to 0402 components, with both leaded and lead-free processes.
  • Operate and maintain engineering pick-and-place equipment, including setup, component loading, odd-form handling, and placement verification.
  • Use laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, waveform generators, spectrum analyzers, and high-voltage power supplies to analyze and validate circuits.
  • Create, refine, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), mapping standard components to internal parts, ordering prototypes, and applying appropriate scrap factors.
  • Collect and analyze test data, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across products and processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot engineering software tools, firmware environments, and drivers to support testing and production.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support builds, solve problems, and improve outcomes.
  • Document results clearly using common engineering and office tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, CAD software, and online technical databases).

Basic Hiring Criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, or manufacturing support.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontroller architectures, and communication protocols.
  • Proven ability to use test and measurement equipment to trace signals and validate circuits.
  • Hands-on experience with SMT soldering, rework, and prototype assembly.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and fine motor skills for working with small components and lab tools.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
  • A problem-solving mindset and a passion for building, testing, and improving hardware.

Benefits offered to vary by the contract. Depending on your temporary assignment, benefits may include direct deposit, free career counseling services, 401(k), select paid holidays, short-term disability insurance, skills training, employee referral bonus, affordable medical coverage plan, and DailyPay (in some locations).
