We have an outstanding career opportunity for a CNC Technician to join a leading Company located in the Howell, MI surrounding area.
Sets up and operates CNC machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operations.
Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and workpieces on the machine.
Loads control media, such as tape, card, or disk, in the machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from the database.
Calculates and sets machine controls to position the spindle in relation to the workpiece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
Operates the machine manually to perform non-automated functions, and when automatic programming is faulty or the machine malfunctions.
Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
Ability to recover Fanuc robotic arms.
Use of hand tools for repair of basic tooling/part pallets.
Ability to preset tools in the absence of a tool setter.
Ability to use CMM in the absence of a quality technician.
Ability to lead two or more technicians in multiple cells.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Five years of experience in a CNC environment.
Basic supervisory/leadership skills.
Advanced knowledge of SPC and Quality Systems (TS16949).
Advanced knowledge of CNC Programming G&M codes and CNC-type machinery.
Advanced knowledge of machining and assembly processes.
Advanced understanding of Control Plans, FMEA, Flow Charts, GD&T, cutting tooling, and setup.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of hydraulic, lubrication, and mechanical equipment
Advanced understanding of CMM reports, gage readings, and able to use CMM reports and gages to adjust the assigned process.
Ability to train and coach other CNC Technicians and CNC Machine Operators.
Advanced computer and ERP skills required.
