We have an outstanding Contract position for a Quality Manager to join a leading Company located in the Annapolis Junction, MD surrounding area.
Pay Rate: $55 - $60
The Quality Manager will be a proven leader with excellent problem-solving and communication skills, responsible for managing the quality of the company's products and documentation. This individual will be responsible for leading the quality management system and serving as the key contact for customer quality-related topics. This position is responsible for using excellent communication and problem-solving skills to discuss inspection results with those responsible for the products. Additionally, they will inspect, test, and sample parts or assembled products to ensure compliance with specifications. This includes the responsibility to observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Forecast needs, and design Quality Systems, Processes, and QMS improvements based on selected Quality Models -- ISO 9001, AS9100, Philosophies, Methodologies.
- Drive continuous improvement in QMS.
- Influence behavior and decision making to drive a Culture of Quality within the business.
- Use business tools and hold others accountable for their use.
- Provide quality input to drive the evolution of business processes.
- Resource allocation and deployment with respect to quality resources.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of systems, programs, training, and drive changes where needed.
- Forecast the need for quality improvement projects and align with business strategy.
- Design audit plan.
- Develop an improvement plan based on overarching themes related to nonconformances (e.g., supplier interaction tools, new metrics).
- Drive improvements in products, suppliers, or systems to reduce/eliminate nonconforming material.
- Look for new tools that should be used to guide organizational decisions.
- Strategically work with Procurement and Engineering to scout out new suppliers so that they are identified and available when new needs arise.
- Manage the quality functions, ensuring adherence to and compliance with established company quality policies, practices, standard operating procedures, customer requirements, and federal regulations.
- Drive the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System, including assuring effective management reviews, complaint handling, nonconformance and corrective action system, change control, internal auditing, and manufacturing area support.
- Conduct Quality Audits.
- Interpret collected data, implement, and monitor data tracking, trending, and analysis of trended data.
- Prepare quality documentation of procedures and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, and corrective actions to explain that information to customers, employees, or company executives.
- Conduct Root Cause investigations and analysis, and write Corrective Action responses.
- Oversee the accomplishment and perform verification of required corrective actions, including supplier corrective actions.
- Work with the procurement department and suppliers to resolve quality issues as necessary.
- Lead supplier assessments, qualifications, audits, and performance monitoring.
- Lead the Material Review Board to facilitate the timely disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Process owner for all First Article Inspections, typically performed in compliance with AS9102 Standard.
- Partner with Operations leadership to ensure Environmental Health and Safety requirements are met (e.g., Chemical Information List, written Hazard Communication Plan, Hazard Communication and Safety Training).
- Drive completion of hazard assessments.
- Administer training on topics of Quality, ISO 9001, (AS9100), IPC, etc.
- Effectively deliver tough messages when needed.
- Determine what quality training needs to be developed and deployed.
- Use knowledge management to plan for and meet resource needs.
- Predict and Prevent organizational and QMS risks related to quality.
- Execute inspection plans using defined inspection methods (Receiving, In-Process, Final, Shipping).
- Interpret drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and product/performance specifications as part of QA Processes.
- Document nonconforming material and send product (provide input and report) to MRB as needed.
- Analyze and resolve process issues.
- Be familiar with industry standards for IPC 7711/7721, J-STD-001, and certified in IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620.
- Conduct ESD/FOD Inspections and measurements based on pre-determined frequency.
- Qualify the ESD performance of workstations, flooring, and smocks, and address any performance deficiencies that are found.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is desired.
- Minimum five to seven years of experience in the Quality Assurance Field; Highly qualified candidates will have spent the most recent 4 years in a Supervisor/Manager role.
- Proven familiarity with Electro-Mechanical manufacturing and assembly lines.
- Excellent communication skills and a high degree of proficiency in technical writing.
- Must have experience leading ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System processes and procedures, to include initial certification.
- IPC-A-620, IPC 7711/7721, J-STD-001, and/or IPC-A-610 certification is a plus.
- Proven experience with Project Management and Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Experience with CNC and SMT processes is preferred
- Travel: 10% to 20% required; domestic and international.
