We have an outstanding Contract to Hire position for a System Test Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Tewksbury, MA surrounding area.
This role will include work in a system test lab/integration test environment with airport checkpoint screening systems. Responsibilities may include operating and monitoring test equipment, setting up test scenarios, handling test articles such as bags, and performing hands-on system testing. The environment is indoors and controlled, but it is not a standard office/desk-only environment. Some lifting may be required during testing; bags are typically around 20 pounds. Most time will be spent in the lab.
Responsibilities:
Support testing and validation of airport checkpoint screening systems.
This role will help ensure that checkpoint systems, subsystems, software, hardware, and integrated workflows meet functional, performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
The contractor will support hands-on testing in a system test lab/integration test environment and will work with airport checkpoint screening equipment, test workstations, software applications, and related system components.
The role requires the ability to follow test procedures, document results, troubleshoot issues, and work with both Linux and Windows operating systems during test setup and execution.
This position may require periodic lifting and movement of test articles, including checkpoint bags that are typically around 20 pounds.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
Experience in system testing, integration testing, verification and validation, or related engineering test activities.
Experience testing integrated hardware/software systems or complex electromechanical systems.
Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
Ability to perform basic OS-level troubleshooting, including checking system status, collecting logs, verifying configuration, and identifying abnormal system behavior.
Ability to execute detailed test procedures and accurately document results.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work hands-on with test equipment, system components, and operational test setups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with engineering, quality, operations, and program personnel.
Ability to follow safety procedures and work within controlled test environments.
Ability to lift and move test articles, including bags typically weighing approximately 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
