Position Summary
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Buyer II to support procurement operations in City of Industry, CA. Under the guidance of the Senior Buyer and Production Control Manager, this role is responsible for purchasing materials from approved suppliers while ensuring the best value in price, quality, delivery, and compliance. The ideal candidate will play a key role in material planning, supplier coordination, and administrative procurement functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase materials from approved suppliers at the most favorable terms aligned with quality, delivery, and quantity requirements
- Coordinate supplier delivery schedules and ensure materials meet required specifications
- Manage procurement administrative activities in accordance with established procedures
- Prepare purchase orders (POs), verify supplier approvals, and track material receipt
- Maintain accurate records of mill certifications and material specifications
- Update and manage data within the MRP system
- Support intercompany sales of excess materials under leadership direction
- Collaborate with internal teams (Shipping, Sales, Quality) to address needs and provide updates
- Request and evaluate supplier quotes, select cost-effective options, and ensure compliance with vendor LTAs
- Monitor inventory levels using MRP and planning tools to prevent shortages or discrepancies
- Oversee supplier performance reviews and maintain corrective action documentation
- Manage scrap sales processes, including preparing bid lists, coordinating shipments, and maintaining records
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- 5–7 years of related purchasing or procurement experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for interacting with suppliers and internal teams
- Ability to interpret basic instructions, correspondence, and data
- Proficiency in basic math (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios) and data interpretation (e.g., bar graphs)
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities in structured environments
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MRP systems required
