Job Description:
Seeking an Associate Structures Mechanic to join our E-4B team in San Antonio, TX.
Position Responsibilities:
* Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas
* Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structure
* Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structure in accordance with standard repair processes
*Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair
* Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of structural parts
* Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components
*Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems
*Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
* Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
* Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
* Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
*Ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and job task performance via Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications
* Assist other team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to ensure cost/schedule targets are met
The position requires the ability to pass an assessment at the end of training cycle
The position requires compliance to SA Site Tool and FOD procedure
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
* 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals, such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless
* 4+ years of experience working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
*4+ years of experience using structures hand tools such as: drills 45 and 90 degrees, pancake adapters, counter sink cages,
hole finders, and rivet guns
*4+ years of experience working heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking and fastening structures (i.e.. doublers,
stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) to aircraft
*Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission
requirements and workload
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (E-4B or Depot Level)
* Experience working with titanium aircraft structures
* Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment
Physical requirements:
1. Physically capable of working in a factory production environment which includes sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stair climbing, gripping, squeezing, and operating hand and power tools
2. Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and work in elevated and/or confined spaces as required.
3. Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance (Occasional lifting of 21-35 pounds), grip, squeeze, bend and twist at the waist, walk, crawl, crouch, stand for long periods, kneel, reach, climb/balance, flexion/extension
4. Contact with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms
6. Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material
7. Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation
8. On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 35 lbs
9. Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
10. Frequent walking on flat surfaces
11. Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces
12. Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
13. Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
14. Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls
15. Occasional contact with metals
16. Exposure to plastics and solvents to atmospheric conditions
17. Frequent exposure to noise
18. Able to work on high reaches
